Access Statement For The Pilatus - Guest House Introduction We aim to cater for the needs of all our visitors in our home based 9 bedroom guest house. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you should have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help you. Pre-Arrival • There are several bus stops and tram stops within a short walking distance from our front door, where there are frequent services provided by both. • The main train station (Blackpool North) is a 5 minute drive away by car. • There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required, we can make a booking for you. • Brochures and menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement. • We have a website. • You can contact us via phone or email (details below). Arrival & Car Parking Facilities • On arrival to the property in Willshaw Road, you can park on this road for free and for unlimited time. Please observe any yellow lines (at the end) and any taxi ranks. • Alternatively there is a car park opposite the Savoy Hotel, 2 minutes walk away, you can park there for a very nominal fee. • If you require assistance with your luggage, please just let us know. Main Entrance & Reception • From the pavement there are 2 steps onto the patio area, each step is 18cm high, followed by a further 7 steps to the front door, each of these steps are 16cm high. On either side of these 7 steps is a wrought iron hand rail. • The front door is usually locked but we do have a bell at the left hand side of the entrance, which can be reached from any height. • On entering the hallway there is a step at the front door which is 14cm high. • The front door is 77cm wide on one side and can also to opened on the right hand side to a total of 160cm wide. • There is seating in the sun lounge, which is the first doorway on the left. • On walking through the hallway, there is a small step of 8cm high, leading to the reception desk and welcome area. This step is lit at all times. • The hallway and whole ground floor is all carpeted in short pile carpet. Public Areas - General (Internal) • The entrance to the sun lounge is 70cm wide. • The entrance to the dining room is 76cm wide. • The entrance to the residents lounge is 76cm wide. • There are 15 stairs to the first floor landing, where there are 5 bedrooms. • There are a further 13 stairs to the second floor landing plus 2 stairs to each corridor where there are a further 4 bedrooms (1 family, 2 singles and 1 double). • The stairs are 20cm high, 25cm deep and 80cm wide. There is a wooden bannister on the left hand side, leading to the first floor landing. • The covering on the stairs and all corridors is short pile carpet. Public Areas - WC • All bedrooms are en suite but no public WC available. Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe • Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor. There are no steps. • The furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. • Tables have underspace of 67cm high by 68cm square and total height of 75cm (legs on each corner). The chairs have no arms. • Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement. • We do play background music in the dining room. All bedrooms have a smoke and heat detector.
